- BioSS: Biomathematics and Statistics Scotland
BioSS has an international reputation in the field of mathematics and statistics applied in the biological sciences. Established in 1987, BioSS contributes research, consul-tancy and training to agricultural, biological and environmental research organisations in Scotland, and pursues a lively programme of fundamental research, counting many UK universities among its collaborators. We have growing links with the private sec-tor, offering high-level statistical and mathematical skills to several clients. About half of our staff are based on the King's Buildings science campus of Edinburgh Uni-versity, and we also have groups located at research organisations in Aberdeen, Ayr and Dundee.

- Bulletin of Mathematical Biology Academic Press
The Bulletin of Mathematical Biology is devoted to research at the junction of computational, theoretical and experimental biology. With its high scientific standards and stress on clear exposition, the Bulletin is of interest to theorists and experimentalists alike. In addition to original research papers and survey articles, the Bulletin publishes extended book reviews. Every article has a biological message.
- Centre for Mathematical Biology (Bath)
The Centre was set up in 1994 to facilitate communication and encourage collabora-tion between mathematicians and biologists interested in interdisciplinary research at the University of Bath. Its membership includes about twenty permanent academic staff and their postgraduate students and postdocs. Most but not all of the members are in the departments of Maths or Biol (or both), and many of the postgrads are jointly supervised by a mathematician and a biologist. The Centre runs semi-formal lunchtime seminars on most Wednesdays in term time.
- Centre for Mathematical Biology (CMB)
The focus of the CMB is on research across the disciplines of Mathematics and Biology and on research between departments and institutions. The Centre also includes office space and computing facilities for our visitors and postdoctoral fellowships.
- Centre for Mathematical Biology, Mathematical Institute
The CMB embodies mathematicians, physicists and biologists from different fields, emphasising lively and multidisciplinary teamwork with other research groups within the university, the UK and abroad. For example, within the university we presently have joint collaborations with Numerical Analysis, Physiology, Plant Sciences, Bio-chemistry, Human Anatomy and Zoology. The types of problems that we work on include, understanding pattern formation events in early development; elucidating the design principles that lead to blood vessel formation and remodelling, with potential application to drug-borne therapies which may combat cancer; modelling the electro-physiology of the heart; understanding enzyme reactions; exploring reasons underly-ing species diversity; developing models for spread of diseases; studying social insect behaviour. All these examples are characterised by complex nonlinear feedback mechanisms and it is now being increasingly recognised that the outcome of such interactions can only be understood through mathematical and computational models.

- European Society for Mathematical and Theoretical Biology (ESMTB)
- Humboldt Universitat zu Berlin; Institute for Theoretical Biology
The Federal Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Technology has created the Innovationskolleg Theoretische Biologie at the Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin. Supported by a special grant which is administered by the Deutsche Forschungsgemein-schaft, the Innovationskolleg Theoretische Biologie (ITB) at the Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin has been founded to overcome this deficit. The ITB is rooted in two departments of the Humboldt-Universitat, the Medizinische Fakultat und Mathe-matisch-Naturwissenschaftliche Fakultat I, and maintains close relationships to the Freie Universitat (FU), the Technische Universitat (TU), the Max-Delbruck-Centrum, the Max-Planck-Institut fur Molekulare Genetik, and the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin. Through its structure and organization, the ITB is well suited as a meeting place for scientists who seek to collaborate with theoretical biologists. The ITB will thus allow theoreticians to get critical feedback from experimental researchers and, in turn, foster new experimental projects to test fundamental theories.

- Journal of Mathematical Biology Springer
The aim of the Journal of Mathematical Biology is, on the one hand, to foster the contribution of mathematical modelling and reasoning to the understanding of biological systems and the explanation of biological phenomena, and, on the other hand, to be a forum for the presentation of biologically inspired problems of a mathematical nature.
